Dr. Joanna Lin obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from the prestigious King's College London School of Medicine in 1987, and went to obtain her Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom (MRCP) before leaving England in 1991.
She was offered an academic position in the Chinese University of Hong Kong, which entailed research into various cancers common to Asia and teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as treating cancer patients. She went to work in the National University Hospital in Singapore in 1995. In 1997 she left for private practice in Mount Elizabeth and Gleneagles Hospitals.
In 1998 she was admitted as a Fellow of the Academy of Singapore and has been on the Singapore Medical Council's Specialist Registration List since 1998. Her oncology practice is situated at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre and Gleneagles Medical Centre.
